Here at Barnt Green Choral we have just spent a fabulous twelve months singing The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins, Song of the Universal by Ola Gjeilo, and Zimbe Songs of Africa by Alexander L'Estrange. Not only did we really enjoy it, but every concert was sold to capacity and our audiences had a great time. We are now greatly looking forward to the coming twelve months where we will sing a broad variety of Christmas music, Verdi's Requiem, and highlights from Handel's Messiah. This is a challenging programme and we are aways seeking additional singers for these significant works. All new singers will be most welcome and we have now established a 'Young Artist' scheme to help fund aspiring singers aged 18 to 30 years. There is no need for previous experience or be able to read music – all you need is a desire to sing. Rehearsals, in the Parish Hall in Barnt Green commence at 7.45pm on Monday 7 September. If you think you would enjoy taking part, and singing some of the world's best music, then please contact us via the contact page on this website. In June 2026, the choir will turn to modern jazz with a performance of Zimbe! by Alexander L’Estrange.  First premiered in 2008, when it rocked the singing world, Zimbe! combines energetic African traditional songs with contemporary syncopated jazz. Designed as music for the community, combining both child and adult voices, the performance will feature a massed choir comprising Barnt Green Choral and 60 children from two local school choirs.

The choir’s busy Christmas programme commenced with a Chamber Choir from Barnt Green Choral singing the annual Memorial Service at Waseley Hills Crematorium on 9 December.  This uplifting service was attended by many families bereaved in the last 12 months, some grieving and some giving thanks for the life of their deceased loved one.  Many found great comfort and solace from the singing, and this event has now become a regular feature of Barnt Green Choral’s calendar.

After another year of major success, Barnt Green Choral has taken steps to strengthen further both its organisation and capability.  In 1951 the founders would never have dreamed that 75 years later the choir would still be going from strength to strength.  For seven and a half decades the Bromsgrove arts scene has been enhanced by the choir’s splendid renditions of some of the world’s best choral music.

The 2025 – 2026 Season is going to be a massive year of joy, happiness, and celebration for Barnt Green Choral.   It is our 75th anniversary !
